Puhn-tang
I just finished reading through How to Make Your Car Handle by Fred Puhn, as recommended by Random. Whew...man that's a long dry read. The theory presented in the first half is mostly relevant and interesting to know. The second half, which is on specific suspension mods, is rather outdated, and the vehicle-specific discussions deal mostly with American and European cars. Regardless, there is some universally-good knowledge in there, which is worth knowing. This is probably more of a book to check out from the library, take notes, and xerox the illustrations of interest.

The theory is the relevant part...that and the sections on how to "redesign" your supension to get it to do what you want. Now I seriously doubt that anyone will be redoing their strut mounting locations, or changing their car to a fully independant setup....but the info is there in that book should anyone want to try.
It is a VERY dry read...but after you get past the first 50 pages or so...you sorta get used to it. Or at least I did.
