Idiots On The Road Today
So, 7 this morning I am on my way to work at Harrah's Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. The easiest way for me to get there is to take the Atlantic City Expressway in and then jump on the new extension that loops around the bay side of the island and after going through a tunnel, pops up on the northside of town to service The Borgata, Harrah's, Trump Marina, and the island town of Brigantine.
So, after going through the tunnel, I am in the far left lane (my exit is on the left) and on the right there is an entrace from Route 30 (the northern road that leads into AC. At this point the extension is three lanes wide. A white Blazer gets onto the Extension and immediatly starts to slip across the lanes towards me. No signals and obviously not watching where she is going, she jumps across the middle lane and all but pins my bmw to the guardrail in an almost sideswipe.
I had to get on the brakes hard and both front wheels chirped before the ABS kicked in (I hate the feel of that) and I downshifted from 5th to second.. the Blazer just missed by inches from ruining my car. At the same time, the idiot behind me who was fatally unaware of what is going on, almost rearends me as I hear all four of his tyres lock up (no abs there) to avoid running me down..
tally: 2 near misses seconds apart.
Getting out of work. I decide to take route 30 home as I need to stop and get some stuff on the way home. After passing the entrance to the Connector, there is a single lane that leads to Rt30. As I approach it, a white pickup cuts me off hard to jump into the lane.. again I am on the brakes and ABS to avoid damage (no room to manuever either) but at least this driver realizes they almost caused an accident and waved apologetically... being from PA, they were probably lost too.
Tally: three near misses..
So, I am almost home, just need to navigate a traffic circle (roundabout for the english speaking people here) and I am home.. I have the right of way and the car coming up on my right stops to let me and several other cars make our way through the circle.. as they stop, a gold Chevy avalance slips around them to the right and guns it to enter the circle... again, hard braking, ABS, and this time I actually remembered that I have a horn (I always forget that) and the avalance misses taking the front end of my bmw off by hairswidth as he takes off across the circle with his load exhausts screaming at WOT.
Finally Tally: 4 near misses today. 2 on the way to work, 2 on the way home.
All I can say, thank the gods I pay attention to everything around me and I am one to hit the horn LAST instead of first. (I have seen far too many people who's only defensive manuever is to hit the horn)
I hope tomorrow is better.. must have been a full moon or something today

but just think.... if something DID happen then your car would be totalled and you could come back to the Korean side of the autos as opposed to the Germans. lmao
talk about a bad day though!! i hope the first thing you did when you got home was cracked open a cold one
