So I'm working on my car at the shop on friday evening. The guy at the shop tells me he saw a sign for a car show on saturday. I'm like ok, i'm more in working on my car mode then showing my car, but i can make it work. So i finish up my work and go home to bed.
I wake up on Saturday morning at 0500. I drink a cup of coffee. I run out the door and start cleaning the living hell out of my car. Silicon on everything in the engine bay, wash the outside of the car, wax the outside, Q-Tips in the vents, 409 on everything, Windex on the windows, toothbrush and vacuum cleaner to get the dust out of the carpet, Son-of-a-gun on everything black on the outside of the car... you get the point, this keeps going on..
At 10AM I decide to roll on down to fair grounds where the car show is to take place. Usually car shows start at 10am I see a sign that says "car show 3pm" and "with live coverage from HOT 103.9". So i decide to stick around for a bit and keep cleaning. I already had a head start. I clean and clean and clean, and notice that noone is around yet. Then I call the radio station at 12:30. They said "the gates don't open until 3".
I look around for some gates, and as far as I can tell, I'm in the center of the area the show will be. So I decide to leave and come back later when it gets a bit more crowded. I head on over to meet my buddy and pick up some stuff from the house. My buddy decides to go with me to the show.
We headed on out to the fairgrounds for round two. It starts raining at 255PM. I'm determined and not turning around. I get over there, and not too many people are there yet. So we leave to get something to eat while the rain is going on.
I rolled up with music blasting, windows down, sunroof opened and start unpacking. It stopped raining and people were just sitting around looking at their cars with the hoods still closed. They noticed what we were doing and they followed suit. Soon all the hoods were opened and a guy comes around asking me for admission fee.
Long story short, we paid the $20.
So we spent about 4 hours cleaning the car with windex, shining the tires, getting the mud off from the rain and improving the engine even further. We armor all'd everything and the car was looking great. I noticed that I was the only one there who had silver rims. Everyone else had chrome. I also noticed we were the only two white guys.. kinda odd, but no big deal. We waited for the judge.
7:00 we waited for the judge
8:00 we waited for the judge and started wondering if it was possible to do a night judging. My car looks best at night because of all the LED work i've done. In fact my hopes were going up because noone had anything close to what I have at night time.
9:00 a guy rolls up sitting on top of a car with a crown on his head (yes sitting on top of a car with a crown on his head). He jumps up on stage and says "Awite, who's got da loudest sound up in here!?". Someone turns on their stereo and he points and says "YOU!", then "Awite, who's got the cleanest car up in here"....... "uh.. that caprice over there"........ "Come to Club Excalibur for the afterparty... YO!"
We were in shock. Myself, my buddy, the car next to us, and the car next to him. We stood around trying to figure out what happened.
Usually at a car show there's set standards for different classes of cars. Modifications, how well they were performed, general clenliness... that kinda thing..
It was the worst experience i've had this year! I wasted $100 on cleaning supplies, admission, and nitrous oxide for that show! It wouldn't supprise me if this guy went from town to town posting that same sign and calling the local radio stations to make it look legit.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Blank_00Tib @ May 17 2007, 07:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Get any pics of it with that $100.00 of cleanin supplies put to use on it?</div>
It was about $45 in cleaning supplies, the rest was for the gate charge and a full tank of nitrous oxide.
I did get one good pic of my car though!

... well that was the only good one I thought... It rained after that again. here's another pic of my clean as hell engine and some pix of the show.
