Last night, in a torrential downpour, I spun my tib and put her into a ditch nose first. While the fender I bought from TC was untouched, the front bumper is toast, I lost the passenger side headlight (tabs broke off) and fog. The radiator is pushed back till the fan is touching the cat and leaking, and I bent the lower radiator support badly. You can definatly tell that I impacted passenger side first as the bumper is pushed back and over towards the driver's side.

Thankfully the airbags did not go off (do they ever?) and the car is still sort of driveable. It does not pull, there are no strange noises, and it brakes normally.. it just overheats incredibly quickly. If I have to go anywhere, I need to fill up the radiator, take her up to 65, shut off the engine, coast down to 45, clutch out to restart.. take her up to 65, turn off and coast.. over and over and over again.. that is how I got to work and back today.. not fun.

Still waiting to hear from the insurance claims people. Thankfully the car is till worth 5 grand KBB and I have 30 days rental coming to me in my insurance once they approve it.

Cross your fingers.. I do not want to lose my tib.

Almost 20 years driving.. my first claim on my insurance.. oh well. And to think, Next friday I was supposed to go to a different insurance office and get insurance here in Jersey so I can get my NJ DL and stuff back.

 

So sorry to hear that, Mad, but there's always a good side to accidents (where nobody's hurt)... aftermarket replacement parts... smile.gif

 

Yeah, my car got owned as well.

I haven't got my lazy butt to my parts car to replace my driver side front plastic tire well, I've been running it open with the new AEM intake sitting there.

I'm out playing golf, not supposed to rain, and I get a freaking massive T-Storm. Was a smidgeon away from hydrolocking, had about a a few teaspoons of water leak out my intake when i turned the car off (the draw off the motor from idle kept it from coming out during driving) and had some water drops sitting on the walls of my intake / tb.

well, grand total of $3112.15 for the estimate.. VERY close to what the car is worth with 124,000 miles on her. Chances are a claims adjuster will want to take a look at my car.. so hopefully I can talk things down some, or will just let them either total and take the payoff.. or buy it back and hope the damage is not too great that it cannot be repaired easily.

I could probably save some money by replacing the headlights myself.. they want $357 alone for the right side.. and I already have shell I can rebuild it with. They also listed the turnsignal which I know is not damaged.. that is another $44.

oh well.. have to see what comes out in the wash.

I'm just glad to hear you are okay man. We've had some great storms this week too and I was very hesitant to take the car out in them.

Let me know what you truly end out needing and I'll help you with it.

Don't forget, the headlights on Kspec.com are 399 for a SET. Get them and sell the extra one still on your car.

Fogs are cheap too.

 

That sucks man. in north jersey we got hit too but not nearly as bad as you folks down in south jersey.

Sucks bro! Hope it all works out. Don't know about Jersy, but hopefully your insurance cuts you a check and ells you to fix it. Then you have free reign to do buy what you want.
