Early may, I sold a dvd player+screen on ebay to an individual. Insurance on it was OPTIONAL and on the ebay link "As of many Ebay used items, Items are as is. I garantee working order once shipped. I will not be responsible for wrong installation. If you need help with installation I'll gladly help. " was stated.

Now a week later after he recieves it he files a paypal claim saying its broken. He goes to bestbuy for an estimate as a 3rd party and he wins his claim and I have to refund him his money back.

1st of all.
He never bought insurance, I was courtious enough to add 100$ insurance on the package because I felt it should have atleast have some insurance. Which doesn't mean shit to paypal. It could have had no insurance and he would get his money back.

So for example, I can recieve something in the mail, which I didnt even choose to insure, than break it a week later trying to install it or if I don't want it anymore. Take it to a 3rd party like Best Buy and have them look at it and write a document telling paypal it's broken. WELL NO SHIT. What kind of 3rd party is that?

After countless emails to paypal and phone calls, I resolved NOTHING. It's like talking to 17 year olds. There is no way I can prove this guy is trying to screw me over but he can prove paypal that he can take a damaged DVD player to best buy and have them say yes it's damaged to get his money back.

WTF!?! Ebay auction means shit, all the pictures on there means shit, everything written on the "selling contract" means shit when your the seller.

After having enough with talking to countless idiots on the phone, I asked for a supervisor. She said this "well next time you should do whats in your business's best interest and maybe not use paypal." WTF #2?

Clearly there seems to be no Seller protection against IDIOTS dropping anything a week later than getting their money back. How bias can paypal get?

EVEN if it broke in the mail, HE DIDNT BUY INSURANCE. He is repsonsible for any damages correct? NOPE. Definetly not the case.

Paypal can go screw it's self with all the seller protection blah blah blah. If your selling something on ebay it MEANS SHIT. Just a FYI for anyone that thought paypal was an untainted virgin that does no wrong. I could of wrote no refund on the ebay link and I would probably have to refund the money anyways. "as is" means shit all aswell.

I guess when you have hundreds of millions of customers, I'd make no difference, I'm just a number.

Very True. I got screwed out of $150 by a French Canadian @$@%hole the same way.

I didn't pay based solely on morals. I abandoned my Paypal account and opened another one a few months later.

Paypal is the best thing if you're a buyer. . . The worst thing if you're a seller. Sellers beware!

tell ebay you'll refund money when you receive the item back. my bet is this guy is trying to get the stuff for free. plus bestbuy workers (no offense to the bestbuy worker here) in my experience no little about electronics and are basically just salesmen selling over priced crap.

so you've got a couple options. have them get another 3rd party (real audio shop) or just have them ship it back. downside to option two is the guy might break the stuff before return. my bet though is that he'd bluffing and has a friend at bestbuy. soooo I'd suggest saying you'll refund the money upon return of the items.

Ya my brother sold a pda on ebay and when the guy got it he said it had a scratch on it and it was not working properly. he filed a claim after my brother had of course spent the money and after 3 months it was finally resolved and we won actually. it seems more like a coin toss to me but you really need to be careful how you word things in your secription. it makes all the difference i think

Who did you sell it to? Was he an Ebay noob? You know you have the right to reject bids to newbies because of people that try to rip off the sellers.

This is why you always REQUIRE insurance.
