I think the cat closer to the engine works better to clean the air, if thats what your asking. Id get a header then the first would be removed so keep the second if your planning to modify the exhaust. Hope thats your question.

yeah? Whats the big deal tho? If you have a catback, obviously its not going to reach all the way up to your first cat. All catback systems start about 1/3 of the way back from the front of the car. So you take off the 2 or 3 bolts from your stock cat, and hook up the exhaust from there. If the flanges dont match, its cause you have a 3 bolt, and the catback is a 2 bolt. Any decent welder will fix that prob in 5 minutes if he has 1 of the 2 kinds of flanges you do.

If you dont want 2 cats from that point. You'll want to get a decent set of headers to take out your primary, and either a high flow cat, or just keep the stocker for your secondary. You'll not want a straight pipe I dont think unless you just race it a grip.

All tibs in Cali had 2 cats, but in other states, I believe there are a few semi headers out there since they didn't require the first cat.

I believe it was only some 1.8L that came with the "semi-header" as you people call it. I've never seen a 2.0L with it.

All U.S spec 2.0L Tibs I've seen have 2 cats... and most other cars have two cats as well...

So you didn't have one in the exhaust mani?

Odd, most people do.

So, just move the sensor and take out the one on the manifold in prep for a header then? I'm in the military and registered in MT. So i fall under montana laws. My state has no noise/poloution/hippy laws.

You can't take off the one in the header... its part of the header. It comes off when you do the install on the header.

You could get the bung welded in after the second cat in preparation if you want.
