okay so long story, fixed my caliper guide rods, now how can i make sure that the brake is working..?
the rust didn't go away and i just went on a quick drive doing some very heavy braking intentionally.
they are also cross drilled/slotted rotors, but should not be permanently rusting..i can only think that something is screwed up again.

Well if the rotor had rust right after you drove it dosent seem like the brake is working, but did it pull hard to the side if not I guess is its working, go on a street that you make slippery then have someone on each side check to see if the wheels lock up, thats how I checked my rear breaks, by pulling the e brake, that was on worn out tires though

dirt roads work best for that....

Generally though, you should not have any rust on the surface of your rotor if everything is working correctly...

take a marker, draw a line on the face of the rotor and do some braking, if the line is gone after then its working, if its still there and untouched its not..

is there rust on both sides of the rotor?

did you try to swap rear rotors?

after driving try to touch right and left rear rotors (BE CAREFUL they would be HOT). Temperature should be the same.
