Cop says I was going 73 in a 55.
I said no way, I had the cruise set at 64.
Cop says, well you were still speeding.
I said yeah, 9-10mph over, not 18. Are you sure I was going 73 sir?
*takes my license and sits in his car for 10 minutes*
comes back and he says he wrote me a ticket for 73 in a 55
I asked for some proof to show I was going 73 because I am positive I was going 64
He wouldn't show me the gun, I asked twice.

That is BULLSHIT I'm not paying a ticket for 73 when I was going 64. f*** that I'm so pissed. But, new Wisconsin law says he doesn't have to show me the gun..
So does this mean I'm screwed, or what?
$200 and 4 points off my license, f*** that pig.

go to court and fight it..not like that will help much, they won't have the gun reading to prove anything. but throw yourself at the mercy of the court and see what happens.

Definately go to court with it. I did my research and even though the judge agreed I was speeding, he threw out both charges (I was also ticketed for not having current registration w/me). I've also had a cop not show up in court, got off that one easy wink1.gif

If you're going to go to court - do it right. Request any audio/video recording, calibration certificates of the radar gun and tuning fork used to calibrate it, and certificates of proper officer training to use a radar gun. Be aware all this stuff costs like $10-15 (that's what it cost me). Study it all, look up laws in your state about how often police departments have to calibrate their radar guns, case law, etc. Make sure to let the judge know you are a student (if you are wink1.gif ) and dress spiffy.

Also I'd suggest watching the whole police video - not only is it fun because it's like watching yourself on the show "Cops", but it can show useful information about how the cop treats different people. When I watched the video the police department sent me, the same cop that stopped me ended up letting another girl go who was going faster, and didn't even ask her for license/registration. He also later made a comment about me to another cop, showing prejudice, which has little to do with the speeding charge, but is still a plus on your side.

All in all I'd say be prepared and be honest, and you'll at least get the lesser charge, fine, and points.

Maybe the cop is right... Have you change your wheel size and rim?? if it so, get a wheel/rim calculator.... The speedometer is set to the OEM tires.... for example, I have a 205/55 R16.. I got the calculator and it says when the speedometer shows 100km, I'm really at 115Km... That because you will cover more distance with a higher RIM/wheel with the same rotation of the speedometer sensor...

Please someone who help me explain it better....

BTW.... speeding ticket in my country has a value of US$50.00... but If you get caught in illegal street racing, you will get a US$500.00 ticket plus 3 months without license and the police will take out any performance part on the engine bay.... drillsergeant.gif

1. f*** that pig? How about f*** YOU? You were the one speeding, you knew it, get over it.

2. Find the actual written CODE that says you aren't allowed to see the gun. Someone is pulling your chain, that's just simple RIGHTS. How else do you know you aren't being railroaded? Find out the actual LAW and don't go by what folks tell you.

3. Go do the tire calc and see how much your speed is off. Then add that % to the amount that the speedos are off for that speed, I think it's plus or minus 3%. Print everything up and bring it into the court with you, tell the Judge you had no clue (True) that the tire size could affect your speedometer accuracy, and that combined with the built in accuracy variance, you now understand and have an appointment with Hyundai to calibrate your speedo to the new rims/tires. Also explain to him that you replaced the rims and tires because the owner before you had damaged them pretty bad.

yeah, TEN over, not EIGHTEEN.
I wouldn't have complained if the ticket was for 10 over.
What reason has he for not showing me the gun?

Well I have not researched any laws yet, but "supposedly" the new law is the officer is not REQUIRED to show you the gun.
