I Hate That Check Engine Light...
Okay so out of nowhere, straight driving for 2 miles, the check engine light goes on in the Tib. It did this out of nowhere last year, and for what? Because I was low on fuel. Yes, we ALL have a low fuel light, but that didn't go on... the check engine light did. NOW, I have 3/4 of my tank full and this bastard when on. The fluids are fine. The car drives/runs fine. Wtf? Seriously... I hate everything under the hood of this damn car. Everything.
So this might be stupid, but who has an idea of what's wrong with it? When I read the manual, it's like reading a foreign language... and yes I read the English part of it. Plus, I don't exactly have money to fix it. :\

90% sure its the gas cap because by your description it sounds like u just filled up and u might have been in a hurry or just plain didnt line up the threads right, take the cap off, re-tighten it perfect and then reset you ecu. it should go away. if it doesnt then tell us more about your car, last tune up, how its driving, anything youve done to it. and well see if there is a cheap fix or if there is something really wrong with it.

Yup, go get it tested. The only time I really got one was for the Gas Cap. Went away in a few days after tightening my cross threaded cap.
Bahaha, word Mad. We're lazy over here. smile.gif
My dad told me to unhook the battery for at least 5 minutes and let it all reset. He also mentioned the gas cap and something about oxygen levels. He said his Elantra wagon used to do this crap all the time over some oxygen levels.
And there's no AutoZone around me that does any checking for free. They all charge. Every place charges to just check out your car... believe me, I've called many places today, lol. I even asked some while in looking at turn signal bulbs.
I'll most likely wait until my dad gets home from work tonight to play with anything under the hood so if I screw up, he can fix it. smile.gif If it's anything major, my little sister's best friend's father (they live right down the street from us) works for Hyundai's service and parts center at one of the big local dealers. He said if I ever need service with my car, since he loves it so much, he'll either cut the price down or override any warranty limits to get what I need done.

Hell, I got my Mom's Subaru Forester read at an Autozone last week. Turned otu to be a knock sensor, simple fix. They do it for free so they can try and pursuade you to buy the parts while your there. lmao.gif
