me and my friends have been having some problems with cops in our city. i live in a small city names sebastian, which is growing very fast. it is in central florida on the east coast. about 5 years ago when i moved here there was a lot of retired old people, snow birds in the winter (old canadian people that hate canada winters) really quiet. but now the city is growing a lot. its becoming a big tourist attraction cause of the great fishing in sebastian inlet and all the charter boats and seafood restaurants.

now of course more people = more kids, and more kids = more hooked up cars. now me and my buddies, about 10 of us hang out at 2 different houses. one we work on our cars and hang out and have a good time, of course all of us have exhaust and it may bother the old people but we are respectful and dont go past 25 mph around his block. we dont play loud music. we just work on cars and talk about cars. now the old people are mad cause we park in the grass and our cars go in the street a lil bit. they also are mad cause of the exhausts that we have. and at our other friends house we just hang out and mind our own business and dont speed at all, but this is a lil bit busier of a street and people speed down it.

now what im getting to all of this is that these people automatically think that we are all drug users and my friend who is a mechanic is a drug dealer. and they say we street race all the time and wake their kids up at 1 in the morning. and the cops have been pulling all of my friends over and giving them tickets including me. like 4 friends have got exhaust tickets $51, i got a warning for my indiglo a/f gauge. and some of us have louder exhausts than the others and my friend tonite just got a ticket for $66 dollars and has the quitest exhaust of us all. now around here the harleys are everywhere, there are a few harley groups that like to cruise and cause trouble and they are a hell of a lot louder than us and they dont get any shit. i guess cause the cops are scared. i dont know, but when my friend got pulled over the other night the cop said im going to get all of your friends sooner or later, they are going to get killed street racing and they all need to be taught a lesson when we dont street race at all really, and if we do its on the track or 45 minutes away.

its bs, sorry for the long thread but i needed to get all that bs out of my system before i go crazy and u guys can understand all the details and stupidness of this whole ordeal.


Let me know if your going through the same crap me and my friends are going through or we the only one! do cops discriminate against you just cause of what u drive?

 

why did you get a warning for the a/f gage? Some of this is confusing, if you and your friends have been doing this for a while, the cops should know who is ok and who is an arsehole.. unfortunatly though, you guys are easier to harress than the harley riders.. those are usally older folks and you guys are still "kids" in their eyes.

I think the best defense here is a good offense.. go and make sure that everyone knows that you do not sell drugs, race on the street, or cruise around town to annoy people. Remember, thanks to a couple of movies and a whole history of people who mod cars... everyone thinks that the racer image is a bad one. Time to clean it up.. stop parking on the grass.. spread the cars out some so people can park on the street, do not arrrive too early to work on your cars or leave too late. And here is a cool idea.. get a name for your crew and do a couple of community things once in a while.. and let the newspapers know about it!
