so just to give everybody an update, i still have not gone to see the car cause, the guy is going to try to register it with a salvaged title, i dont think this is possible in N.Y. but until he knows for sure, i wont know for sure. if he can not get it registered than this should be a go. i will keep you all updated via this thread.

In order to get a full blown Salvage Title, you need to have the vehicle repaired, and inspected by the DoT. I know the process quite well, since I had to do the better part of the paperwork. The only way you can get the car inspected without Bonding the car (more paperwork) is to have a state registered recycler's license, which costs a fair amount. Even with a bonded car, you still need to pass inspection.

Unless he is trying to get a Salvage Certificate (which is used to officially sell a car, for strictly parts) but he should already have that...

The guy isn't going to get far I think... If he does, I should have moved to New York to solve my car's problems!

yeah i am almost 100% positive that he will not be able to make that happen, so i am basically waiting for him to fail, LOL

All I want is the passenger interior door piece and the base shifter surround if they are still available. I really need these parts the most.
