.....i doubt it's because of it being more restricting....taking off the stock muffler you loose backpressure created from the restricking stock muffler....backpressure helps your car out to some extent, unless you have some sort of forced induction...your car should be faster on the highend, because more air can flow, but at the lower RPM's and speeds you need the back preassure a stock muffler creates.

somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

If I put the car in neutral and reved it you could feel the rpms not jump as fast on the low end soon as I took the stupid 40 series off instantly felt my pedal get responsive and the car was more rev happy. Im running right now no muffler and my car is driving fine. sounds more raw wihtout one then with one on.
