Default Why don't Formula 1 cars and Lemans cars look the same?

They kinda both do the same thing, go as fast as possible. Is it really only open vs. closed wheel racing, or is it the task at hand that dictates the design? Do tell.

Fomula is always open wheel racing..

Lemans and Formula 1 racing is so much better...anyone can turn left...

i DVR Formula 1 and watch it l8r...sucks they in different time zones and mostly come on at wee hours of the morning...

I no longer have dish network or speed channel so I DL the BBC races after they air over there. No commercials at all, 3hrs of F1.
