well i went to the track tonight (its just an 1/8th mile track) for the first time. I have never raced my tibby before on a track and i dont street race so... it was a trial and error thing.

here are my best times:

2.575 60 ft
66.96 MPH
10.743 ET

2.616 60 ft
67.16 MPH
10.710 ET

2.593 60 ft
66.76 MPH
10.784 ET

my best reaction time all night was 0.837

I was told by a ton of people that i should bracket race the tibby cuz i would probably take it all... but i doubt i do. last thing i need is to be breakin stuff... it was fun tho. There were a lot of neat cars out there and some cool drag cars. My friend david (owns a 90's Neon R/T with the 2.4 swap and a buncha crap done to it) was runnin 9's

If u want scans of the slips for proof let me know and ill scan em up

you drive na automatic? If you drive an automatic tibby I'd say go ahead and learn what brakcet racing is (you'd be good if you can learn to be consistent). It's sorta like gambling with your skill.

But if you don't drive an automatic (there is other fun to be had, on a real track..) Auto's can only have fun at the drag strip [bracket racing]. nana.gif

You did great man, for your first runs. No matter what your reaction time was it's your 60foot time, directly belwo the reaction time, that can make or break your run. Those aren't too good 60 foot's, but hey it's your first run, no biggie. Did you experience wheel hop? Or lag off the line? Lauching is the funnest thing to do at the track, learning to get it just right and slam your head back into your headrest... mmm...

i drive a manual.

problem is... around here there is nothing but drag... we dont have road tracks... nobody wants to pay for the insurance.

The holeshot was killing me. I was squealin tires like a motha. No hopping, just peelin out. no matter what i did i would roast the tires (even if i was at a low RPM)

I had a great time and was pretty consistant all night so it wasnt so bad. ten bucks and i ran probably 11 times in an hour and a half.

At least you can eat some asphault with the manual, it's difficult squeeling tires if at all, even while brake launching with the auto tib

Oh Casper, PLEASE HELP ME SWAP THE TRANNY THIS SUMMER!!

Probably since your first time, placing concern on the 60', you let out the clutch too fast and practically did a burnout off the launch.

Don't be afraid to burn the clutch a bit, let it out just like your driving nice and easy off a stoplight.

Its not just about the RPM you hold it at before you launch man, its the throttle your giving it when your launching

Your giving it too much gas while releasing the clutch too fast, you want to give it the right amount of gas so that you ALMOST break traction, anything over that and youll peel out, anything under that and you could have pushed it more see what i mean? Just make it chirp the tires and then floor it once youve hooked.

I ran 16 flat stock, 15.5 with I/E, hoping for around flat 15 with I/H/E. I run at a decent track about 200 feet above sea level, was about 70-80 degrees when I got those times.

Your 1/8 mile time would probably result in a high 16 second quarter mile at the moment.
