Track day in my Civic

I guess I'll just go ahead and put these here...
First, some car info. It's an '02 Civic EX sedan. Only power mods are an AEM intake and custom made 2.5" exhaust (with a muffler and cat). Trans has an OBX LSD and ACT streetlite flywheel, stage 1 clutch. Suspension is BC coilovers, Progress swaybars, blox adjustable endlinks, energy suspension bushings everywhere, SPC adjustable rear camber arms, DaVinci Designs shortened tie rods, NRG rear lower control arms. Rims are 17x7.5" unknown brand (bought them from a friend, they're pretty light). Tires are 215/40-17 Hankook RS-3's. Front brakes are Fast Brakes Wilwood 2-piece 12.2" with 4 piston calipers. Rear brakes are stock drums.
Coming soon, seats, harnesses and a cage (gutting the interior when I do the cage). OBX diff is a short term solution. Didn't wanna pony up for the Quaife since this car is either being sold and replaced with an older Civic I can swap a B20/VTEC motor into or this one is getting a K20 swap.
This is my second track day with this car. First day with the mods. My first track day with it, car was stock. Track day was the 3.4 mile configuration at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, put on by Speedventures.
First session was kinda slow, I needed to dial in the suspension and tire pressures. Second session I spun on the first lap due to an S2000 blowing up a few seconds ahead of me and oiling down the track. Third session, I had things dialed in a bit better. Fourth was going well but I cut it short due to my tires and brakes getting worn out. Here's the vids, unedited and with no music... Click "watch on YouTube" for 720P HD.

If you sell the 01 go with something super light like an EG, CRX or Del Sol. Big power and light weight chassis is a winning combo in my book. There's a dude locally running around in an EG with an H22 power plant, for sale too. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't pondered it.

I've always wanted (almost bought a new one) an EK CX hatch. Manual steering, manual windows, no radio, no a/c. My plan back then was to swap a B20 block, B16A2 head and trans with a Quaife LSD and some bolt-ons. This would give me a decent amount of torque without resorting to forced induction. This is probably what I'll do... or do a K24 block/K20 head swap. This might actually cost more than getting another car though. But, it would be faster.

Orrrrrr, go buy a Lotus. After dumping all the money into a Honda with a buttload of suspension modifications, you "might" be able to hang with a Lotus. You can find some killer deals on used ones. Basically because they're good for nothing but being a track car. Plus they look sexy as hell.

Orrrrrr, go buy a Lotus. After dumping all the money into a Honda with a buttload of suspension modifications, you "might" be able to hang with a Lotus. You can find some killer deals on used ones. Basically because they're good for nothing but being a track car. Plus they look sexy as hell.
I've got about $7k into my Civic, including the car (girl gave it to me for free... cause I'm that good. LOL). Swap would run about $8K. Not getting a Lotus anything for $15k. Well, maybe a beat to hell Esprit, but nobody wants one of those.

A lotus would be fun indeed, but I have to agree here a decent model is going to command a substantial price tag over the Civic and won't be nearly at cheap to operate. It would be a fun goal though.
In the end, its about what the driver prefers. I love my 944, but driving it vs. the tib and even the deuce; all 3 are worlds apart. I'd track all 3 and have just as much fun.
IMHO, if you want a lotus experience without the price tag, buy a MK1 MR2 n/a which can be had under $800 all day. Then swap the 4AG for a V6. hell, if you're lucky you can find a 2GR from a lotus (or Camry if you're budget minded) for fairly cheap. You'll lose trunk space..... for what that's worth in a track car, IE: your golf clup holder becomes engine space. Hell, at those prices you can have both insured for less than the lotus.
I have friends that ask me all the time how I can afford all of my cars... Look at the ages. These are cheap as hell to operate and parts come fairly cheap.

The original point of the Civic was to prove to a few people I know that even a FWD 100 HP car can be quick with the right suspension and driver. Not really interested in getting an older rwd car. If I were, I'd get an S13 240SX and SR20DET swap it. I am a Nissan tech after all.
