Default Supra vs. 2001 Tib

Hi guys. This'll be the first topic that I actually start.

Well, yesterday, on my way home from work, I had a guy in a new, dark blue 2001 Tib pull up next to me, and rev up.

Well, my Supra isn't *really* in racing shape, basically, non-turbo, and almost completely stock. (That'll change, but that's a topic for another day.) I decide to take the guy up on his offer to see what he's got.

The light changes, and we both gun it. No false starts here! I jumped about 3/4 length ahead, we were both traction limited, so I guess that's the Supra's RWD working for me.

First to second shift, and I hadn't gained an INCH since the off-the line burst, probably about 40 km/h (25 mph) at that point.

Mid second gear, and I had actually LOST about a 1/4 length, eek.gif and the Tib's front bumper is about even with the mid driver's door on my car. Probably about 65km/h (40 mph) But from this point, my Supra is just gaining it's breath, and I start to walk away from the Tib.

I'd say that at 100 km/h (60 mph) (top of second gear for me) I was about 3 lengths ahead of the tib. I'd guess that it was less than 2/10 of a second behind me for 0-60.

I've gotta give that car props, and the driver too. We pulled off the freeway and intoa 7-11 for some chat afterwards. He thought that I had a turbo, and wanted to see how badly I handed his a$$ to him.

He had bought the car about a week ago. It's really nice, but I guess you guys know all about that. I really like that dark blue colour! The interior could have a bit less plastic to it for my tastes, though...

I'd say that the Tib has got some real potential when modified to be a very fast car. It's already very quick in stock trim!

Anyway, I just wanted to share the story, (Even though it's a Tib "kill" -- I thought you'd still like it.)

Hey man...with the way you approached it...you are cool with me anytime. At least you aren't a cocky bastard like most of the other people that come in here and run their mouths (not that you were running your mouth or anything wink.gif ) I gotta say...I love supras...it would be awesome to run up against one...even though I would get toasted... Good story!

Thanks, but there are a couple of issues...

I have the 3rd generation Supra, not the 4th. Mine is a 1989, not a 1994-1998
I already have just about everything that I need (see private message)
If I were looking to do an engine from a 4th gen. Supra, I'd still want an upgraded single turbo, not stock twins
However, the stock Mk4 injectors does have interest to me, as they're a 25% upgrade over the stock injectors for the 7M-GTE (Which I am building, and plan on installing next spring.) Unfortunately, I just spent all my pocket money for the next couple of months.

Oh well, thanks!
