I went to a local Rallycross event in the Accent. I managed to place 2nd in my class which was 2wd Modified. I had a blast and I think I'm going to be building a rally car now but probably not out of this Accent. I have two other Accents to pick from but might choose something rear or all wheel drive to start from.
This was the course layout at Evergreen Speedway. It was a mix of asphalt, gravel, and thick mud.

I got to take my daughter along for all the runs, on her birthday. This is what she wanted to do for her birthday because she's awesome.

This are the pro photos that I've found from the event.

Here are some photos from my friend James

It isn't too bad but I definitely have some cleanup to do.

I was consistently improving. I had a 4th run that was 2:14 also. Your 3 best runs were added together for your scored time.

Not too dirty considering.

This was 4 hours before I left for the event so I'm surprised that I even got there, much less that I did acceptably well. I was one hungover racer.

A GoPro video of my 4th and fastest run. The mud was so thick I could barely exceed walking pace.

That's awesome! How many runs do you get on competition day? Down in southern California we only get 6
The mix terrain looks pretty fun too. Congrats on getting on podium on your 1st rallycross. What cars were you competing in modified 2wd?

I got 4 runs. There were a lot of competitors and a few delays. The next event is in April and it is all dirt.
Full results, with the cars that were preregistered in my class. I don't know what the other cars were. There was a large variety of cars there that day.

I would hate to do that to this Accent. I'm getting ready to turn over 200,000 miles on her and I've had her since she was new. She's on her second engine, and needs her second gearbox soon. I've got A LOT of unique, limited production, or hard to find parts on her. I've done drag/autocross/road course/rallycross with her. There is a turbo kit sitting on a shelf waiting to be put on. She's been to all of the western states, most multiple times. I've thrown a futon mattress in the back and turned her into an RV for long trips a few times. In essence she is a valued family member. I think I would like to give her a fresh paint job, install the turbo, and have her as a weekend pleasure car.
I do have 2 other Accents though that don't have a special place in my heart and one runs and drives well but was hit on the driver's side. That would make a great rally project I think assuming I can get a door to close reasonably well.
I missed the deadline but I'll play next time.
