just had to post this I was on the way home from work tonight. About 12:30 and pulled outa the local Quick trip! Was at the light and didn't see this older model Z28 camaro around 88 to 90 model pull away from the light at a quick pace. I new that there was a young guy drivin it cause I saw him in the store but didn't realize that he left right behind me!

Anyway we got about a mile down the road and I caught up to him. Well we were runnin about 60 to 65 and I went doun to 3rd gear almost redline I jumped the car at him and then hit redline and went into 4th gear and pulled from him. At this time I wasn't sure he wanted any so I got in front of him and he followed behind me we passed another car on the right ( we are on a 4 lane road 2 south 2 north bound median in the middle)

I get into the right hand lane and with out having time he flies past me! So I nail it back into 3rd and catch him! With all the luck in the world the light ahead turns yellow then red so we have to stop!

At the light I rev up at him several times and I see him look at me through the corner of his eye. So I start to roll up a little and he does the same then he revs up at me and I know that it is on!

I turn back to look at the light and the other light turn yellow then red we get the light and he spins a little and I get a perfect launch!!!!! I pull on him in first. Then BAMB I hit second bark the tires and now he is at my bumper! I pull hard through till 3rd! Slap that puppy in there and now I am 2 full lenghts on him! Just a ways through third and I see him back outa it so I did the same.

I slowed down because my turn was comming up soon so I give him a wave as he passes me NO NEED TO BE A JERK! the rest of the way home I pat my car. As that is the first V8 that she has run and won! So I was really happy just thought that I would share this experience with everyone!

Just remember you can beat those VEGETABLE DRINKS it just takes time money and alot of luck!!

I never respond to these posts but I thought I would now just cause of the fact that am a Camaro fan.
Am sorry to sound rude but I find it hard to believe that you had 2 full lenghts on him. rolleyes.gif Unless you have some mad mods like NOS or some thing like that, thennnnn I don't know.
I know with my stock Tib I could never beat a camaro. I have friend that has a camaro, we drop a 350 in it and it is fast off the line and a killer racing car.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe we can beat Camaro's but only with some mad mods. Even going head to head with a V6 you would need some mods.

But if you honestly beat, then I have to say "well done old chap". wink.gif

 

Well, you do have to remember also that there is a HUGE weight difference. Chances are he could of taken the camaro right off the line, and maybe if the camaro had not backed down, he most likely would of caught up and blew right by. Plus maybe the camaro was a v6 auto or something. You never really know what it is exactly you are beating in a street race, or who is beating you, until you get out and talk and see each other's cars. wink.gif But it is fun though to say, "I beat a camaro." smile.gif

 

If it was a Z28 Camaro it has to be V-8.
Unless his car was seriously hurting you could not have won without having serious mods.
You said you beat him and I do not doubt you. Therefore you are the shiat!!!

People put phony badges on Camaros just like they do on Hondas too.
I think L&S may have been suggesting that.

 

That is all true L&S but camaro's don't have as much weight has people might think.
I mean most of the weight comes from the engine&trany, the body&chassie don't weigh that much. It is a lot heavier then a Accent but the power a V8 will compensate for that and let the car get a head real fast off the line. But like you said we really never know until we look under the hood and talk to the guy.
It would be real cool to say "I beat a camaro"

But like I said accent 1 if you did beat him "well done old chap"

I don't know how trie this is but a buddie of mine used to have an RS and he said it was almost 4000lbs. (305 engine)

 

The 82 camaro my friend has weighs about 2800-3500lbs (most models of that year weighed that much) and he has a 350.
The newer models am not to sure of but they should be around the same, maybe
And if you think about it, that's not that heavy. He also has 76 grand prix that weighs 4500-5000lbs and it has a 450. Thats almost half a ton, now thats what I call heavy.
So you see camaro's don't weigh that much compared to other older cars. And my point is, wellll I forget what is...sorry sad.gif

How much does an Accent weigh or Tib weigh? Just so I can compare the difference.
I ask this cause I don't know. sad.gif
