I don't know about you all, but before I put my airram intake manifold in I ran a 15.7 at the track on chrome 17's. And I always shift right at redline through every gear. But the more time I spend at the track the more it seems I may need to shift a bit earlier for a better time. I'm not real sure the powerband goes to redline. Where does everyone shift when their at the track?

For me its usually around 6200 in first, and 6000 for all the rest of the gears. Ran a 15.5 with intake/exhaust and a flat 16 stock for a comparison to your times.

As an addict for drag racing I can tell you how I shift smile.gif
Almost red line in 1st, 5900-6000 rest of the gears.
I ran 15.7 with CAI and weight reduction and 15.3 with I/H/E with no traction (wet track).
What mods do you have?
where do you live?

Jesus. I have definately been shifting at the wrong RPM. Obviously. That definately explains why I got across the line a bit quicker when I shifted sooner. Wasn't sure if was that, good reaction time, messed up manifold, etc. I like a man that spends a lot of time at the track! I live in Orlando, Florida bro. We race at the Bithlow Speedway. It's not the best track in the world but it's fun for all. I think my car has the old shoe polish track numbers just about every time you see it. They're a pain to get off anyway if you're out of alcohol. Mods, I've got headers, pulleys, intake, BBTB, airram intake manifold, catback, and a shortshifter. And when I fix this airram manifold and shift at the right RPM i'll report my new times.

you could definitely do a whole lot better with so many mods man!
If you learn your car a little better you should be able to get into 14s smile.gif
good luck and keep us updated on that IM.

Man all those mods and your just barely under stock? its gotta be the 17" wheels, the chrome too!
ever think of getting dynoed? you will know how much whp your putting down and you can see at what rpm your peak hp rating is at and youll know exactly when to shift, instead of just saying earlier you will know exact numbers to shift at...

Yep... actually with a little dynowork you can see exactly where to shift in each gear. Or you could go cheap and just feel out the car. Thats how I learned how to drive (no tachometer) and it really taught you how to feel out the car and how it runs. Damn technology nowadays ruins that experience for newer kids. tongue.gif

Man I defiantely like the sound of 14's. Yeah the 17" chrome is definately not helping. But it looks so nice... so I have to deal with it. I've never had the car dyno'd but I hear it's pretty damn expensive. Anyone here dyno there car, how much?
