This year I have made the decision to go to my first drift event. I have never been to one before so those of you have gone, are there any tips you can share that will allow me to have the best time for my first time at an event like this?

I'm gonna make the wild assumption that you're going as a spectator, not intending to attempt to enter. If I'm wrong, I have no tips for you lol.

First of all, it's a PITA to get good pics or video at most drift venues. At Evergreen Speedway it's almost impossible to from anywhere they allow spectators unless you have 10x zoom or better. That will depend on the venue though.

At the event, there are quite a few vendors and freebies. If you get there earlier they will have more stuff. I got a discount card from discounttiredirect.com for $100 off of a set of wheels and tires or $50 off a set of 4 tires. Not too shabby.

If it's like it is here, you can probably go right into the pits and meet some of the drivers and look over the cars fairly closely. Hyundai usually has a good booth with some cool freebies. We have met and talked to Rhys Millen, as well as gone all over his Genesis Coupe. That was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot about the car.

I dunno if it's your thing, but they usually give away spent tires. You can often get them signed. I personally have enough extra tires in my garage, but a tire off of Rhys's Gen Coupe, signed by him would be pretty cool to have.

I love going!! Every year there has been something awesome happen!! The first year we went Rhys won 1st place. The 2nd year I got my picture taken with him and talked to him about his awesome hill climb win. Last year I wore my Rhys Millen crew shirt and the lady told me that I could go right in act like i worked with him because the only people who have those shirts are him and his crew, (Hubby bought it for me off his website but they no longer offer it). If you enjoy cars and lots of tire smoke you will have an awesome time. If its anything like out here and you hate crowds it may not be the best place for you but its not been too bad.. And just enjoy yourself!!!
