Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended from Top Gear by the BBC following an alleged dispute with a producer. The show will not be broadcast this Sunday, and it puts the future of the hugely popular series in doubt.
If they lose him and he goes onto a different show, Top Gear is done as ratings will drop.

He'll get picked up pretty quick on some other show, or maybe even start his own if he leaves or gets fired. Top Gear cant afford to lose him completely because like the OP said, their ratings will take a dive.

I doubt the BBC is dumb enough to let him go. The 3 of them have such chemistry not even their solo projects demand the attention TG does. Plus he's notoriously a troublemaker, that's 99% of what makes him such a lovable personality. I will be shocked if there isn't a season 23 with JC. The BBC can't afford to lose him, Top Gear is arguably one of (if not the) biggest shows

Charlie Sheen was a trouble maker also. Look what happened to 2 1/2 men when he left.

I'm not certain that's a fair comparison.
2 1/2 men peaked with just over 16 million viewers.
