Default I can't heal / toe.

I can't figure out why! It just feels all sorts of awkward for me. I don't have big feet, and I can't seem to press my heel hard enough to match revs, or I can't get enough of my heel on the gas to make any difference.

Advice, anyone?

Try using the right outside of your foot for the gas, and big toe area for braking. That's more the technique on most cars than truly using your heel and toe. Although with some pedal arrangements you can truly heel/toe.
