Last night I raced one of my friends that has beaten about every import in my area.

He drives a Saturn L300. If you are not familiar with this car, it is a V6, tune port injection, and I beleive they come stock with 230 HP. I could be wrong about the HP, but I know for a fact that it is over 200. He has a WAI and subs in the trunk, other than that, stock. 30,000 miles, automatic.

My car: Other then the mods below, I have removed my rear seats/seatbelts, spare tire, and jack.

What I can't figure out is how I beat this kid. I know that I am nowhere close to 200 hp but I beat him by about 1/2 car length. It couldn't been an error on his end because he has an automatic. Is this just pure weight difference?

What does that Saturn do in the quarter mile? Have you looked at MotorTend or similar mag to find out the stats? Also, you should be doing anywhere from low 16's to high 15's with your mods..hopefully. I liked your disclaimer. do you mind if I copy it sometime...wink.gif

It doesn't list the LS 300. The list is fairly recent since it has 2004 vehicles on it. The fastest car Saturn makes is 15.50 in the 1/4 mile (Saturn Vue, V-6), other than that the fastest is 16.40. Either the imports he races are really slow, or he's done a lot to his Saturn and had some bad gas and a misfire when he raced you wink.gif

a Stock LS300 with V-6 option has 182HP. It weighs 3,200 pounds

I can explain it with a simple equation:

hyundai > saturn

therefore

(hyundai + saturn) race = owned saturn laugh.gif

I was just about to say that! If you work out the power/weight ratio, here is what you get:

RD - 140 hp / 2600 lbs. = 0.053
GT - 176 hp / 3000 lbs. = 0.058
LS300 - 186 hp / 3200 lbs. = 0.058

So assuming TibRacer's mods get him a few extra hp, he should be able to beat either of those cars.

Either way I'm glad TibRacer won..the only thing I regrett is that he didn't beat a Honda...LOL

Yeah, there are not a lot of fast imports around here at all. There is hardly anything around here that can beat me. I am not trying to say my car is fast, there is just not a lot of competition. You need to drive a V8 to be cool.

I have never talked about racing Hondas because I didn't think that it was worth the time. If it is not a Prelude and doesn't have like $10,000 into it, I ain't scurrd. lol.gif This one kid thought he was bad because he had the Del Sol and had a bunch of N/A work done to his swaped B16. He beat me stock, but then came the mods and now I get him every time.
