Been hearing a lot lately of tracks closing due to the economy. Pretty soon people are gonna start street racing a lot like back in the early 2000’s if enough tracks close up.

There's only one actual 1/4 mile track, and that is about an hour away from my house.
Occasionally they will close of the straight section of the circuit for special events, but it is pretty ad hoc.

only 1/4 track is ~1.5 hours away. We have an 1/8 mile track about 45 minutes away.
the Nashville Super Speedway shut down b/c NASCAR cancelled their events, and they weren't hosting anything else. It's in the middle of nowhere, actually 45 minutes outside Nashville and less than 100 people live within 10 miles of it. Seriously, worst place ever to build it. They held Import Alliance there for a few years, and a few drift events, but that was the only time it was ever used.

I drive 2.5 hours for 1/4 mile and 1.5 hours for 1/8 mile. Nascar track 45min away used to shut down pit lane and let street cars race there. That was a lot of fun because all heads up and street cars. Unlike the true dragstips which are gutted and tube chassis trailer cars.
