Many Formula 1 teams had gone in and out of business past several decades, as well as ownership changes.

Vehicle: MC + RD2 + AW11 + 944 = 4x Win

It's an expensive sport.

Caterham F1 was a dream by Tony Fernandes, who is nothing more that a shrewd business man, to turn a kit car "manufacturer" into a successful F1 team. The results were inevitable. He got cocky with his Air Asia success. The sale to the Swiss was inevitable, but doing so mid-season only made their drop out a matter of time as well.

Marussia is just a Yakov Smirnoff joke 2 decades too late to be funny.

Haas will suffer the same fate as well.

The only way to be profitable in F1 is to win. Unless you're Ferrari who gets a cut off the FIA gross income win or lose.

The above two teams "only" received 31 and 14 million dollars for their standings in 2013. Now accumulate the cost of 8 engines, 8 transmissions, countless body components, a drivers salary, the pit crews salary, the builders salaries... and so on; THEN multiply by 2!! AND THEN calculate the cost to R&D for the following season!! There is no way to stay competitive if you're bleeding a fair share of a billion bucks every year just to lose.
