honda's power doesnt kick in until like 5k though so 3000 rpms is better

I raced (on track of course) a civic SI who claimed he had 160 whp stock and with his mods which were 4-1 headers and a CAI and catback he had over 200 to the crank

i raced him had him in first by a car
had him midway thru second until his VTEC popped

he also said he ran a 14.5 1/4 mile

For the record....the 93-95 vtec preludes made 190 hp, and the 93-95 si's had 160...and they leave tiburons, stock vs. stock. Not sure how much HP the 96+ ones have, but they run around 15.1 stock. The whole honda hating thing is cool and all, but IMO the prelude is one of the prettiest cars honda makes. I have a friend with a 95 si 2.3l, that has raped me since both our cars were stock. He's also beaten a friend of mine with a 91 Talon TSI(probably tuning problems though, that shouldn't have happened I dun think). Off the line the prelude slows down, and then it catches up to the talon, amazing really, the talon is rated at like 50 more hp. The friend with the talon sold it and just recently bought a 95 prelude with the 2.2 vtec, and he loves it smile.gif I have an 84 Mazda rx-7 GSL-SE, and when the extra 2 exhaust ports open on it, you can feel it push you back in the seat, vtec does much the same thing. ...Also as a sidenote, the whole "He has to be above 5k for vtec thing....well yes that is true but. After someone w/ vtec who knows how to drive their car hits it in first, they are in vtec through all the gears...shift my friends vtec 'lude at 8 and it drops to 5300 or so, in the vtec powerband, and the rpms shoot up again, it is really quick for a stock NA car IMO
