Do slow car go to the drag strip just to see how slow they are?

Do slow car go to the drag strip just to see how slow they are?
My car is no speed demon but the last time I went to a drag strip, there were all types of cars running 16's, 17's and 18's. Pretty slow and those people must know they're cars are not fast so what reason do you think slow cars will go to a track? Just to see how slow they really are?
