Title says all. I would think you decrease it because at staging, when you heat up the tires, the PSI increases, right? So if you let some air out, heat them up, then the psi range should be within the tires OEM specs, correct?
when you say staging are you doing a burnout?
i've been told, if you have street tires burnout's aren't neccessary becuase street tires are made to operate best @ "room temperature".
slicks on the other hand operate better at higher temps which would call for a burnout.
with that said, if you have a large contact surface on the tire you'll be more likely to hook-up.
decreasing the tire pressure would increase the contact patch of the tire. this can be helpful to a point, letting out too much air will hinder the car's ability to hook-up.
i'd start out @ your normal psi and then drop it in small incriments from there.

Street tire, run at recomend pressure by the car manufacture, and dont do a burn out, unless you want to look cool. Like said above, there street tires and dont need to be heated, they dont need to get warm to be sticky!
Also if you want tires to race with I would suggest getting a spare set of wheel, just cheap steelies then going with some street radial of weekend drags, they will last alot longer, I do that same thing, I just put them on the night before drive there, race drive home, change them!
