Default Best way to get into drifting and learn how to do it?

Looking for some tips on how to get sideways. I dont race my car and have never drifted it (on purpose or by accident). I feel like if I were to try it, the car would spin out of control or I would break something that could be costly. So what's the best way to learn safely without killing myself, other people, or my car?

Go to a beginner's drift event. Even with no official instruction you will be able to get tips and ride alongs with experienced drifters. The guys from Drift Office came out to instruct at the Gymkhana Drift I went to.

Google 'how to drift' and then go to a huge empty parking lot when nobody will be inclined to give you tickets, get an idea what the articles you read were talking about, THEN go to an event so you don't completely waste your first event by figuring out you know absolutely nothing. Unless the event is free then go every time!
