Anyone know where i can find decently priced helmets that could be used in solo and competition racing?

eBay, craigslist, etc. Make sure you find out what standards your local auto-x club has for helmet specifications first.

Yes ensure it meets the standards. Snell 2005 or 2010 M or SA is more than likely going to cover 99% of events. DOT helmets will cover around 0%.

I highly recommend going to a motorcycle shop and trying them on. Nothing sucks worse than paying for something that you hate wearing because it has a seam that irritates your cheek and squeezes the hell out of you.
