Anybody ever do 2nd gear launches at the drag strip? Im wondering if they help or hurt your times.

 

never tried that?, not sure if i would? but would be interested in knowing the results of a 2nd gear launch as well,if anyone has tried!?,I would think I'd have to use 5th gear to cross the line as I redline 4th now,and 5th will grenade@at my boost levels.,and 60 ft time would probably drop drastically..,I cant see any benefit imo.

 

I would prefer going to a somewhat higher final drive ratio personally to make first gear a bit more usable. Although a lot of high powered cars have a first gear as tall as our second gears. Unless you're making a lot of power and have great low end torque I still think launching in first and grabbing second would probably be quicker.
