For a snail to keep up with a nascar, I reckon the foot would have to start rippling at such a frequency that you'd approach the natural frequency of the shell. Additionally, what sort of mucus consumption rate would we be looking at here? That'd be a lot of fluid weight to start off with, and the CofG would change drastically throughout a race. Wouldn't the shell create parasitic drag that would create some sort of squatting moment on the snail? Would a wheelie bar on the shell be feasible? Wouldn't vaporising NOS in the presence of mucus start thickening the mucus and effecting its lubrication qualities?
