Default The Walking Dead question

TWD new season starts tonight and I had a question about something. Why does only getting bit or scratched by a walker turn you into one of them? With all the killings, there's no way a walkers blood didnt get in peoples mouths or open wounds. How come that doesnt turn people into one?

I'm not sure if that's fully explained. It seems that it has to be transfered by blood into your bloodstream. Mouth wouldn't do it, and apparently your eyes or nose either. But, everyone already has the virus anyways, so that also has an unknown explanation.

I always wondered that too and could never figure out why no one turned when or if they got a walkers blood in their eyes or mouth. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's something in the saliva that when they bite you, it causes you to turn. I do hope that either in FTWD or at least in the next couple of seasons of TWD, they start to explain more about the virus and what caused everything to happen.

Aaaaand, so far, only Shane went crazy from it. Can't tell if Rick is starting to go that route, or if Morgan will bring him back.

My thought is that there are two things at work. Whatever infection kills you, and whatever infection reanimates you. As it is it seems that everyone has the reanimation infection already. It could just be that walkers carry another disease in their mouth that seriously infects a cut or bite. It wouldn't cover not getting infected if blood or saliva gets into an open wound but otherwise makes pretty good sense.

Rick is definitely starting to lose it and take on the villain role, but I can understand since all he wants to do is survive. I really hope he doesnt snap and become a massive a**hole though. From what I have been reading, there's a good chance that Maggie might be pregnant this season, and the possibility is there that Glenn will die. It's right on course with the comics.
