How about a price range?
Meanwhile, I really like the reviews here:

Camera Town's site will provide you with links to multiple reviews.
For a small, entry level, point and shoot, the Canon Powershot A3100 IS looks good.

Determine your price range.
What are your requirements?
megapixel, HDMI output, direct social media upload, video capabilities, rechargeable battery vs. AA, brand loyalty, screen size, LCD only or viewfinder required, memory preference (card type, flash memory), manual setting features a requirement, etc??

Canon SD780IS 12mp camera.
My brother got one and loved it, so my parents got one, and they they got my wife one for Christmas. 3 of the exact same camera. You could say we've had good experiences with it. LOL
~$200, which is spot on for that range of cameras.

I dont care about brand. Just something small enough to keep in my pocket really. Probably something in the 8-10 mp range, and probably looking at a budget of $200-250. Oh and if it has rechargeable batteries, then great. Otherwise I dont care about all the other stuff other than what I just listed and that it has to take decent pics. Right now Im just using my cell phone take pics so anything will be alot better than what Im currently using.

Refurb $131 for what StrikeEagle suggested. It appears to do photo stitch as well, that's awesome.

I would never buy a camera that small unless it had a specialty purpose (GoPro for example) so I can't really comment on specific cameras. IMO the sensors in Nikon cameras tend to have the best color reproduction, and Canon cameras tend to give you the best pics (overall) on an automatic setting over the widest set of conditions.
I really wouldn't recommend any brand besides those two unless you've actually used the camera in question and were happy.

I went to Best Buy tonight.
I liked the Canon PowerShot SD1400IS they had on display. Very sleek, smooth, attractive design for $199. Very small and pocket-friendly - much smaller than my HTC Evo phone
However, I saw the Sony CyberShot W350 and REALLY liked it for $169 (14mp, 4x optical zoom, 720p, 2.7" display). I'm buying it for my wife, so rather than buying features, I'm considering the EASE of use.
IMO, Canon has the most features and options. But the CyberShot was easy to change from Picture, to Video, to Panoramic pictures by sliding the selector.
I'm considering the Sony for my wife, to use when we're traveling and taking pictures as we walk without lugging a camera bag, and I'll use my Canon Rebel XTi DSLR for my high quality pics.
I agree, Nikon and Canon are considered among the best from what I've seen, especially in DSLR, but I was impressed with the Sony's screen clarity and ease of use.

I'm having difficulty finding the SD780IS. I'm fond of Canon and tempted to buy it still, but the Sony was just more user friendly.
