I was wondering how much have you tipped your tattoo artist after having ink done. Is it like tipping your waiter and theres a general guideline to follow? I have always done 15% of what ever the total was. So basically $15 for every $100. All of my tattoos have been in the $200-$300 range, so I gave my artist $30-40. Is that good or should I do more?

what do the artists get financially? don't they make 100% of what they charge and just pay a fixed rate for their space?

 

I did not tip. No idea if that was a dick move or not though I guess.

 

I tipped $100 on my back piece, but he only charged me $400 for a free hand piece and 8 hours in the chair.
