Default How is your tv mounted?

My flat screen isnt mounted on the wall. I just have it sitting on top of a tv stand. Been thinking more and more about putting it on the wall but I have these on going fears that the mount would rip itself out of the wall and the tv falling on the floor and breaking. Monoprice has these mounts on sale for $21

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

How do I get over my fear of wall mounting and does anyone else share the same fear? Any tips for a first timer doing this?

Well, rest assured, if you don't know what a stud is or how to find one, it will fall off the wall.

just gonna use a tilting mount, not a rotating one right?

cobra, there is a way to mount a 55" tv without finding a stud, its supposed to be safe to do so, but i never did, i always made sure to find at LEAST 1 stud to grab on to

I trust a lot of money to sheet rock... yeah. Mine is sitting on a stand with straps in the event a kid hits it or something.

Neither my father (union carpenter for 30+ years), nor I trust toggle bolts or any other "weight distributing" bolts.

Mount it into studs and you'll be fine.

There are metal wall anchors that have a pretty high shear weight. I use them to hang duct-less a/c unit's to walls.

like these -

** Finding and using a stud is always preferred.

Like I said... I don't trust the drywall to hold the weight, even with those.
