Default bye bye loud commercials

I'm not one to hop on the regulation band wagon. But for this banana.gif

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>WASHINGTON – Legislation to turn down the volume on loud TV commercials that send couch potatoes diving for their remote controls looks like it'll soon become law.

The Senate late Wednesday unanimously passed a bill to require television stations and cable companies to implement industry standards capping the volume of commercials and equalizing the volume between ads and other programming.

The House has passed similar legislation but minor differences have to be worked out when Congress returns to Washington after the Nov. 2 election.</div>

It's something that the broadcaster should be doing in the first place.

Thank god! I cant tell you how annoying it is to be half asleep at night with the tv turned way down, to all of a sudden be scared shitless when a loud commercial comes on out of no where.

It's sad it has to come to legislation. Texting while moving more than jogging speeds should be prohibited by cell phone companies, and TV service providers should have limited their own volume. Oh well, one more thing under the federal thumb.

not being able to text while you're sitting in the back of a bus would be pretty retarded. I get what you're saying, but that one has its particulars that can't be controlled by anyone but the driver. Its like drinking and driving, you can't take away the ability to do so, just hope people follow the rules and punish them if they dont.

EFFIN WIN on the volume deal though!

On the not txting over jogging speed. The gps/triangulation systems are not always spot on... so as it gets closer to finding out where I am, such as in my house because it hates all cell phone signals, it thinks I am moving and I can't txt. blah... Hell on one of my runs being tracked by my droid had me doing an average of 20mph because of a gps glitch.

I am so glad they got around to some important stuff like the volume of commercials. .... not that I am upset about what they did, but really?
