I would love to have a Hyundai turbo diesel van! Bet you could really turn it into a sleeper. Too bad they never came to the US.

I havent bought anything from SR since Sam owned it back during the golden era days of Hyundai tuning. TSR, KORE, original HP, FxTreme, etc...

The starex seems to be at least loosely based off the mitsubishi delica/starwagon lineup.
The interiors use a lot of the same parts, I'm not sure about the powertrains though.
Anyways, the Mitsubishi version is pretty nasty to drive. It's are actually so high off the ground that it feels like it's about to roll over, even at walking pace around roundabouts etc. It just feels like a truck with a more plasticky interior:
-It has overassisted, dim witted steering with zero feedback. It means you constantly have to adjust your line through a corner.
-There's horrible fore/aft pitch control, it's really easy to upset the ride.
-The auto tranny shits me to tears: when you approach a hill, it will lumber in overdrive and wait until your foot is almost to the floor, then jerkily drop two gears at once and make a tremendous racket all the way up the hill. Then instead of holding the lower gear for a while, when you lift your foot, it will clunk down in to overdrive again.
-I haven't driven a diesel, but the petrol engines are bloody horrible. In addition to being noisy and thirsty, the powerband is just inappropriate for this class of vehicle. There's a remarkable lack of any motive effort until you exceed 3500 rpm, not that you'd wanto to with the amount of thrashy noise and vibration that this introduces.
-Servicing them is a nightmare, as the engine sits about 3/4 of the way underneath the windscreen. Anything other than a belt change or sodium silicate treatment will make you want to kill yourself.
Granted, there are some very good points about these vans, but I've driven a few of the mitsubishis, and they just feel very crude. The above negatives far outweigh the percieved benefits of having a 4WD turbodiesel van. I can't imagine that Hyundai significantly changed much of the mechanical tuning, but I could be wrong.
