Turby,

Your links keep you captive within your page.......not really a good thing to do as it can annoy some people. I recommend making links open in a new window.

Just my .02 cents.

allblacktibby, i know that, and i don't like that, either. but i'm not an html programmer, and i'm just figuring out how to use frontpage. that's one of those things i'm gonna work on. i might put instructions on there to right-click a link and open in a new window until i fix that problem. if you, or anybody, knows how to set it to open a new window in frontpage xp, let me know.

::edit::
ok, that's fixed. smile.gif let me know if there are other problems/suggestions. thanks for the input, guys. smile.gif

Perfect. Once you start getting some basic skills you may want to move up and use Dreamweaver. Front Page is what I learned on, but once I learned to use Dreamweaver I learned that Front Page has a lot of inadequacies.

One thing that Front Page does that Dreamweaver doesn't is auto-thumbnail images and position them absolutley. So it is necessary to have something like Photoshop to aid you when you use Dreamweaver.

Notepad can only do so much. If my Webmaster used notepad all the time I would fire him. Time is money and using strictly notepad is slow and cumbersome. However, notepad is an indespensable tool in the webmaster tool belt. Current versions of notepad are not compatible with XML. Some other very important, yet basic short falls of notepad are:

No spell check (though this CAN be overcome by copying and pasting to a program that does, but it will also see all of your html tags as mispelled words,
If you can’t remember tags you have to spend time looking them up,
You have to use American spelling eg color, center, in the tags,
choosing colors is a major PITA no matter how good you are.

On the other hand it does have some pretty good advantages:

Free,
No need to update your program, just your skills, non-propietary, browser compatibility.

Anyway, I guess my post whore point is, it's a good part of a well rouded package of various tools.

well, i USED to be into the programming thing. i wrote a lot of cool apps for my business (to print invoices and track customers' purchases and their upgrades, etc..), but i'm through with that now. i'm doing my economics thing now, so if i have free time, i'll spend it doing a basic site for my tib. that's all i'm really looking to accomplish. smile.gif
