I would say that the arm of the lift snapped or were he mounted the arm was not a good spot and it failed.

Actually looks like it could have ended up a lot worse. Getting it upright again without fuggin' anything up seems to be the bigger challenge here.

That looks like a catastrophic lift failure to me. Lucky mofo to have been on the other side. T -3 seconds and sleep.gif

If you ever get a call from a shop that your automobile fell off a lift, immediately call your insurance company and get an agent to the shop to total it out. Grab a camera and get there yourself also, if you can. Do NOT let them move it before your agent shows up. Do NOT accept anything short of a total write-off, because the car will never be the same again.

I'd like to see the truck after they got it upright, again.

If this was a customer's truck, I wonder if they confessed the truth or tried to cover-up somehow.

One guy I knew, his shop called and said

Shop: Um, did your hood have a scratch on it when you brought your car in?
Guy: ??? I dunno, is it noticeable?
Shop: Yeah, it's kinda noticeable.

fast forward to when he got his car back. They had backed over the hood with the back corner of a flatbed and put a 18" gouge/crease in it. Guy was NOT amused.

Single post lifts are notorious for that. That's why you really can't buy them any more and most shops have converted to 2 or 4 post lifts.
