I used to drive a Honda. Had the thing hooked up to no belief. I went to where my bro worked at a hyundai dealership and fell in love with the Tib. traded in the snivic the next day. I never really liked the second gen tibs cause of the headlights. I really liked the first gen but I kinda got used to it. I did like my honda though. I know everyone puts em down but they are nice reliable cars and are very easy to modify. But to answer the question at hand...if there were as many tibs as there were hondas no I would't buy one. I wanted to be diff. But I guess nowadays there isn't much left out there to be diff with.

I love my tib, I'd pick it over a civic ANY day of the week. I like the preludes, but they are WAY over priced!

I can't really say. I've looked at Hondas, I have nothing against them. I just don't see myself owning one.

As far as the quest for "killer HP" -- In that regard, I don't think I'd buy any FWD car for that. As far as I'm concerned, if it's performance that I'm looking for, it's RWD, or AWD. I have a strong preference for RWD anyway. It's what I grew up driving, and that's what I'm used to.

So, would I buy a Honda as a "go fast" car? No. It doesn't matter how much aftermarket support they have, it wouldn't be my choice. As an economy car? Sure. If the price was right, I'd get one. Right now the prices are not in line with what I'd pay for one. Honda does have a long-standing reputation for reliability. They may burn oil, but they keep on running.

I think the main reason that Hyundais are less expensive right now is that Hyundai doens't have that reputation. Most people stil remember the Pony and the Excel when they think of Hyundai. Those cars made a big impression 15 years ago, when they were bought dirt cheap, and after driving them for a year (Or LESS!) people were walking away from them because they weren't worth what was still owing on the loan. I still remember seeing cars that couldn't be more than a year old leaving huge clouds of blue smoke behind them. So Hyundai has that reputation to fix. It's probably going to take a while, but they're on their way.

Hmm..well...before my Tib, all I had were custom trucks that were modified to beyond extent. Had them in magazines, all kinds of sponsors, always changing them around, etc, etc, etc. It got somewhat boring do the same thing over and over again. Decided to get into the Import Tuning world. I looked around and knew that I DEFINITLY didn't want a Honda, since alot of my friends had them. I saw the new Celica's, and thought damn...that'll work. Went and test drove them a few times, did some research, found out about the crappy tranny's..and then decided to hold and do more research. A friend of mine has a 99 Tib, and he told me about them. Before he bought his, I never even heard of these cars. He told me about FxTreme, I went and browsed the site as much as I possibly could, learned all about these cars, and then went out and purchased a nice new 2K last June, and signed up on the forums as 2000Lo&ShowTibby! Ever since then...it's all been absolutely terrific and enjoyable. I'm gald I didn't get the Celica or any other car at that. So basically....the main reason why I have my car is because of all of you. You, my compradre's, were the one that helped me make my mind up, and I owe everything to everyone on these forums! wink.gif

The only Honda i'd ride would have two cylinders.

Hyundai's rep cant' be that bad considering sales were up 40%+ over last year...and the only car company to have a gain.

Plus their rep was bad over 10 years ago i wish people would get over it ....really how many good cars came out of the 80's?
