It's easy to forget on the slopes, but your speed depends on the thin film of water created by your snowboard (or skis). So it follows that more heat below your feet would mean more speed, right? Signal Snowboards's Dave Lee just built a heated snow board to find out.



In the video above, Lee explains how he had failed to build a heated snowboard, until he discovered a new heat film that's super thin and sliceable. That meant he could cut it to fit his board perfectly and avoid using actual wires on the surface. Instead, the film sucks its power through a single wire that loops up to the rider's pocket, where the battery is stored.



The making-of is entertaining, but watching him test it is even better; the finished product gets up to 128 degrees, and you can definitely tell it's a faster ride.
