I can clearly see how educated/experianced you really are in the automotive industry but hey, thats your opinion. I hope one day you'll be able to own the car of your dreams.

I dont' see anything funny about that. The Corvette is an American Icon, it deserves every bit of it; it's clearly a great car period.

I'm not educated at all in the automotive industry. I was saying I'd pick a Corvette over any other car. I don't believe I've been rude to any member on this site and if you're really going to look down on me because I don't know everything about cars, so be it.

I honestly dont see how any intelligent person can claim American cars are built as well as their German or Japanese competitors. Every single American car we have owned in my family has had issues, whether it was bought new or used. My 15 year old beat up, rusted Supra ran better than my moms new Chrysler when she brought it home off the lot. It also required less repair. Same can be said of my sisters Cavilier and my brother Escort.

I think the big three have made progress, but they have a long way to go. As an example...take a look at the "Miata killer" Solstice. Right, you're going to unseat the best roadster of the last decade with a Cavalier engine and random parts out of your parts bin. Get real.

^haha i agree. we've owned one saturn wagon for my mom. the dealer and service were awesome, they sent us personally written thank you letters and gave us free maintenance once. the car was quite reliable without major problems and maintenance free, rust free. but it was horribly slow i'm guessing it had 115 horsepower so dangerous to drive because you had to floor it to make quick maneuvers, the gear would get stuck occasionally and it had really low mileage (like 30,000), when some SUV backed into my dad, his passenger went into the windhsield because his seatbelt snapped. the car was totalled and insurance gave us $1,000 more than what we paid for it.

this was while we owned a 5-speed elantra (no problems at all and it had 100,000), after that we got another elantra wagon and to this day proves itself, not only does it have adequate horsepower it's fun, comfortable and can go for another 100,000 without problems.

i bet if the elantra was totalled insurance would give us a few hundred for it. no offense to saturn, but they had so much room for improvement and so much potential and they just lost everything just as much as chevy and ford did.

the only thing that saved chrysler was the new 300 i hear, and i don't really know why but it did.

hyundai and toyota are coming out with really barf ugly models, but they're quite reliable and worthy.

That "Intelligent" person would know that the Ecotec 4 cylinder is a great engine. This engine is also used in the SAAB 9-3. The Cavialer had a Budget version of the ECOTEC engine. If you go to Japan, American cars are a fad.

I wouldn't get any old American cars, it would have to be an new one. I would take a luxury 300M over any BMW or Benz. I like the new sporty Cadillacs too.

The Ecotec may be a great engine for commuter cars, but its going to take more than that to unseat the Miata and the following it has built up over the years. Look at any of the professional reviews that pitted the Solstice/Sky against the Miata and they say the same thing

American car companies are just going about it all the wrong way

They should just stick to thier gas guzzling trucks and SUV's......

My family (since I have been born) has owned 4 american cars. Ford Tauras (1992), Ford Escape (2003), Lincoln LS (2000), and a MAD OLD plymouth shaggin wagon (too old).

I will say that the tauras and the wagon have held up amazingly well. (It surprised me) The escape and the LS are both "newer" American cars and have had their fair shair of problems.

In my opinion, I have never liked any American cars (save s7, panoz, mosler, etc.) Though the new corvette seems to be pretty nice.

I just don't like the fact that you can go down any given street and find double digit amounts of American "dream cars" such as camaros, mustangs, corvettes, etc. (save the viper) For example, I had approx. ten mile trip the other day and I wasn't driving for once so I decided to take in the scenery. Guess how many mustangs I saw? 13.

In my opinion, I'd spend my money on something more rare.
