basically, my landlord did a total hackjob of the floors before i moved in (didn't prep, used WAY too much gloss/varnish), so, of course, it started coming up in certain areas.

does anyone know how i could make it look a bit better, so they don't try to rob me out of my security deposit? the floor isn't scratched at all, just the absurd amout of varnish is chipping in certain areas.

 

Your best bet is to rent a sander from Home Depot/Lowes or something and redo it...its not hard. The trick is to keep the sander constantly moving. Also if its your landlord handy work, not sure why you're trying to make it look better?

 

probably so they don't pin it on him. I don't know if you want to sand it, that sounds like a great opportunity to mess it up even more. we need to prove that it's not you who caused the floor to go to sh*t.
