I have been thinking a lot lately about moving out to California. All my family is here but a couple of job possibilities have opened up and the offers seem almost too good to pass up. I wouldn’t know anyone but I usually can make friends pretty quick.

Currently (and for the past 4+ years) I have been ~1700 miles from everything i ever knew.. I'm more of a family oriented person and usually don't make new friends easily (most people irritate me) so its been quite.. different and more boring than if i was still living back home.

I moved out here because there were NO job openings back home and got an offer down here in ABQ.

before you think the job offer is the bee's knee's make sure you look at cost of living.. depending on where it is in Cali your offer of say 60k a year might only get you what 35k a year will get you where you reside.

After a while, you stop moving away from home and start moving to one.

. . . then you have moved to enough of them, and the current one doesn't feel like "home" for a loooong time.

Don't move to California. Visit and vacation, yes, but not for 'permanent' work.

I agree with Stocker. I've been to Cali for vacation 2 years in a row, always fun, but would NOT eant to live there.
