I share the same passion. I think I know what you're aiming at. I've wanted to be a car designer for years but I spoke to a person that was on the Corvette C6 design team and he said that designers are lone rangers, young teens like you whose parents pay for industrial design school, and venture off for practically good and travel to prestigious schools. when they do land a good job somewhere, it's only contractual or part of a team that only lasts a few months at a time.



There is so much competition in the field of design, that to become successful you need a lot of architectural, engineering experience and internships. They don't just hire artists any longer. That's what drew me away from it.



The only other thing I can think of is being a Journalist or Editor, maybe working for the Department of Transportation but in terms of working for a manufacturer itself, it requires a B.S. in Business or M.B.A. in Business.

 

Yes you've got it right, I would love to be a car designer or the person who drives cars before they are produced to test them, but I wouldn't know how to get into one of those jobs or what they would lead to. But thank you guys for the ideas! I'm going to do some research now.
