I've had a Yamaha R6 screen saver since the 2004 models came out and I'm starting to get tired of seeing it all the time. So I ask; What screen saver is everyone using and where did you get it. And I don't mean any of the ones that come with windows, I'm talking a free downloadable one that's cool. Just give me some ideas. Thanks.

What I do is take all my kick ass photos and put them in a folder and they play to music as a slideshow changeing pictures however frequent you want.

Other than that, check the Honda RC211

I thought about the slideshow thing. I'll probably end up doing that if I don't find anything else.

you know how when you first turn on a new windows machine it has the "windows xp" logo that flashes in different places on the screen? I've owned this computer for 1 year and havn't found the need to change it.

OK, back to the topic at hand then. Does anyone know where I can get any cool downloadable screen savers. If not that's fine, I was just some looking for some options other than the ones that come with windows like I said. The last three posts are exactly what I'm not looking for so thanks.

it's up to the user to use a screen saver, lol. start your own thread. I live with 7 guys and 3 girls (bigeyes.gif) if a 3 bdrm 2 bath and we all share rooms. My computer screen always has some cool music and pictures to display when I'm not around.

Check out poisoncg.com, the guy is amazing. Everything is CG animated, anything from planes to cell phones, to Mercedes interiors, to Honda RC211's, to even an RD1. wink1.gif

He just added moving animations where the image just rotates, but the detail is amazing. Check the site there are links to MANY other sites dedicated to this kind of work adn I'm sure you'll find something cool to save as a screen saver. fing02.gif

I haven't used one in years. I set my monitors to power off after 15 minutes of inactivity.

But a good screenaver should be extremely low resource, and not give your CPU and GPU an intense heat-generating workout IMO. Unless you just want a flashy demo to impress people. In which case an Nvidia/ATI demo would be more appropriate.

I find it amusing that most computer stores have screensavers running on LCDs, which is pointless for most models. There's very little risk of image-persistance, and zero risk of burn-in with current LCDs. Using a screensaver will likely cause more damage than not, since dark screensavers turn on the pixels. And also, running a screensaver shortens the life of the backlights. The best way to save a screen is to turn it off when not in use.
