No matter how annoying they are, wear them when working on the car.
I was prying on something for like 30 minutes. And normally I'm well aware of what could happen if you slip, but I was in a rush, and was super pissed off because it wouldnt budge for 30 minutes. But then.........slam!!!!
I split my hand on the frame of the car. From in between the nuckles of my index finger and middle finger, almost to my wrist. It was bleeding so bad I blacked out for a split second. Got to the doctor, removed the towels and saw a 2.5" split that looked like.............well, lmao.gif
Saw the knuckle bones and tendens. Got 7 stiches.

I got into the glove wearing thing at Work. I move a lot of heavy cables and roadcases in the process of unloading the trucks, setting up and teching a show, and putting everything back into the trucks when it is over. Saved my fingers more than once from a nasty cut, pinch, or just a lot of callouses.

Glad you are more or less ok. Least you might get a good scar and story out of the deal.

Damn bro, got pics? You okay?

That sucks hard. Folks laugh that I wear mine alot, but you definately should. Mechanix Gloves for the "I might lose a knuckle" nuts, and latex gloves for the "OMFG THIS IS DIRTY" areas.

The thing is that I would wear gloves all the time, but its just hard tightening those small nuts with gloves on. So I've always tried just being careful. But it finally caught up to me.

I really wanted to take pics but we didnt have any cameras around at the time. We were kind of in a rush to the ER. I'm gonna try and get a pic of the way it is right now though.

I just had some work to do at Hotshot, and I didn't have em on for about 10 minutes trying to loosen suspension parts. Damn, when my hand flew off the wrench it was moving like I threw a fastball, and it just slammed into the spindle. Thats some thickness. I didn't have my gloves on so I figured I'd be bleeding everywhere like last time I got hurt there. This time I lucked out and only bruised the sh!t outta my right hand. I thought I'd have a knuckle pussy too, lol. Last time I was working near the fans, and I slipped and dug the fan heat sheild across my hand. It bled so bad I just grabbed some electrical tape and wound the thing up. By the time I left it felt like I had frostbyte or something cause my whole hand was numb.

WEAR GLOVES!

thats about a strong a statement as

CRACK KILLS!

lol

Oh, I feel ya man, there's a LOT of places wherey ou can't wear them or need the tactile feeling of your fingers on the nuts (Free sig quote!), but during the loosening, when you always hurt yourself, I gotta wear them. I've had one knuckle skinned for about 3 weeks now from when I was working on my pulleys.

Yeah, Mechanix gloves are also great when you're working with Dynamat. That stuff will cut you up nicely if you're not careful. My buddy's all laughed when I was wearing gloves doing the trunk. They thought it was funny until they had some pretty nasty cuts (kinda like a paper cut, but deeper).

I usually break out the latex gloves when I'm waxing the car. Not so much to keep it off my hands, but to avoid leaving fingerprints on it.

I hate gloves, cant wear gloves, one of my many jobs at work is to tear apart computers which includes alot of prying and shtuff, and as soon as the prybar gives your hand is pretty much guaranteed to hit something Sharp and tear your hand up.
When I work on the Semis, I never wear gloves, I cant feel what Im doing, but then Im not wearing nice Mechanix glove.
