Where does the Democrat party get off telling us we MUST (at gunpoint and on threat of jail time) buy a sh*tty health insurance plan?
See, there's the problem with democracy: I get the government they deserve. mad.gif
If you think this was a good thing that happened today, you're a fool. Probably a government-educated one at that.

Somebody else can lock it if this gets out of hand. I din' wanna discuss it, ^ that's a denouncement, not the opening of a conversation.

You don't have to buy a shitty insurance plan, you can buy whatever plan you want.
I'd rather be forced to buy a plan than live in a country where sick people are left to die when they have no money or insurance to pay for treatment. You can't have it both ways. Whoever answers to this with "I'm fine with letting sick people die because otherwise it would be socialist" is a fckin savage
As someone who was in perfect health until last year but whose health insurance paid somewhere between 150,000 to 200,000$ since then, I can tell you that without insurance I would either be dead (no exaggeration) or looking at an enormous debt (depending on how the hospitals handle patients with no money..)

The State of Tennessee offers programs ("TennCare") for those with low income or no health insurance. We don't need a federal program, though we'll have to pay for it. I know a few people who are taking advantage of it, my sister being one.
Caterpillar Corporate Headquarters are in Nashville. They estimate this new health bill will cost them at least $100,000,000 the first year. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/19...t+-+Politics%29
The added costs may result in laying off MORE workers to sustain profit.
For those who don't like Fox News... here's the same article from WSJ and Marketwatch

From the MarketWatch article:
"A letter Thursday to President Barack Obama and members of Congress signed by more than 130 economists predicted the legislation would discourage companies from hiring more workers and would cause reduced hours and wages for those already employed. "
