Trouble Shoot My Computer
Okay, so i'm not sure if this is merely coincidental or because there is a setting that is wrong in my computer.
i just bought a new computer (w/ Windows Vista) and i have it set so that it doesn't go to sleep. reason being is i've noticed when they DO sleep, all programs and the internet get shut off. well... generally when i leave it for a while (such as go to bed) i'm losing my internet connection. is there something else that i can look for? or do you think its just a coincidence that i'm losing the net.. it never happened before. i would be able to have it on for like 30 days at a time w/o losing the net. AIM would shut off periodically, but not the net.
any takers? thanks.

Sounds like a problem with the LAN or wireless card resuming operation. You could always disable suspend, and just have the monitor and hard drive shut off.
You may want to visit the manufacturer's site, click on support and then find a way to upgrade your drivers and BIOS.

the DVD i got from Verizon many moons ago does not work with this computer for some strange reason. i kept gettin error messages... my mother is getting her own DSL set up and i may steal that DVD to properly install Verizon on this. i did kind of a work-around to get to the net. maybe that has somethin to do w/ it?

If you're talking about using the windows network configuration tool, then it should be OK. What you really should do is call verizon and get them to send another CD.
But the problem you described is probly in hardware interface with windows.
